It is not a surprise that Long Island has an extensive maritime history which continues to today. Visit one of the maritime museums, take part in a seafood festival or enjoy one of the many events below to explore this history and benefit the many organizations which protect it

10/6 - Cold Spring Harbor - Monsters & Mermaids Family Bash - meet a mermaid and enjoy the cool new Monsters & Mermaids exhibit!

10/19-20 - Oyster Fest - The Kings of the Coast’s pirate encampment is coming back, with multiple shows each day where children can help find a buried treasure.

Seafood Festivals


Southold - July - Greenport & Southold Rotary - Lobsterfest

  • Proceeds from ticket sales support various community service projects benefiting both Southold and Greenport.

West Sayville - August - Long Island Maritime Museum - Seafood Festival 

  • The Seafood Festival is the Long Island Maritime Museum’s premier annual fundraiser. The museum, a 501-C-3 not-for profit, relies on proceeds from our annual fundraisers to allow us to continue our mission of educating the public about Long Island’s rich maritime history.

Montauk - September - Montauk Chamber of Commerce- Seafood Festival 

  • The seafood festival is an annual fundraiser for the MONTAUK Friends of Erin and the East Hampton Kiwanis Club

Greenport - October - Greenport Harbor Brewing Company - Oysterfest

Montauk - October - Montauk Chamber of Commerce - Clam Chowder Contest

Oyster Bay - October - Town of Oyster Bay/Oyster Bay-East Norwich Chamber of Commerce - Oysterfest

  • The Festival is one of the largest cooperative non-profit fundraising events on the east coast hosted by a 501C(3) organized by the Rotary Club of Oyster Bay.

Greenport - December - Cornell Cooperative Extension - Shellabration 

  • Shellabration is an annual culinary celebration that showcases local shellfish and benefits Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program’s Back to the Bays Initiative and SPAT Program.
