Homeowners graciously open their doors or decorate to the nines to support local historical societies and organizations including the North Shore Holiday House, Huntington Historical Society and more.
Many of Long Island's beautiful mansions now museums also "Deck the Halls" giving seasonal tours each year.

12/6, 12/13 & 12/20 - Vanderbilt Mansion | Museum | Planetarium - Candlelight Tours- The decorators create enchanted rooms with lighted trees, boughs, ornaments, poinsettias, wreaths, ribbons, and beautifully wrapped faux gifts. Visitors can see the enchanting results – and enjoy a trip back in time – when they take a special evening Candlelight Tour of the Vanderbilt family’s private living quarters.

12/4 - North Shore Holiday House - Deck the Halls/ Holiday House Tour & Luncheon - North Shore Holiday House is an independent, not-for-profit organization, that has provided free summer experiences to more than 200 Long Island children from low-income communities. Enjoy a tour of decorated homes followed by luncheon.

Select days - Planting Fields - self guided - Home for the Holidays- This year’s Holiday House Tours highlight the beauty and sustainability of the estate of Planting Fields. Natural materials gathered from our 409-acre grounds take center stage, with invasive plants transformed into elegant garlands, vibrant citrus and pinecones adding color and warmth, and table settings created to honor each member of the Coe family. Dried fruits and seeds draw connections to this year’s Catalyst exhibition, The Planting Fields Stand, while seed heads and grasses echo the vision of the forthcoming Piet Oudolf Garden. Each room tells a story, blending past traditions with the future of Planting Fields.
Select days - Bayard Cutting Arboretum - Tours of the Manor House provide a guided look at the major living spaces of the Manor House, both upstairs and down. See the manor house seasonally decorated for the holidays.
12/6 & 12/7- Three Village Historical Society- Annual Candlelight House Tour - This year’s 2025 theme is Twilight in the Village, inviting guests to step inside a curated collection of private homes and special stops, each offering a glimpse into the timeless character and joyful spirit of the season. For nearly half a century, the Candlelight House Tour has been more than a showcase of holiday splendor - it is a celebration of community, craftsmanship, and history.
12/6 & 12/7- Sagtikos Manor Historical Society- explore toys through the ages, from Colonial times to present day.
12/13 - Port Jefferson - Port Jefferson Lantern Light House Tour - tour four holiday decorated home in lower Port Jefferson Village. Enjoy beautiful holiday music at the First Presbyterian Church and visit the historic Griswold's Cafe in the lower level of Theatre Three.
