Homeowners graciously open their doors to support our local historical societies and organizations including the North Shore Holiday House whose annual tours support summer camp for girls from low-income communities.
Many of Long Island's beautiful mansions now museums also "Deck the Halls" giving seasonal tours each year.
Guided tours of the decorated Vanderbilt Mansion will be given from the day after Thanksgiving through December 30. During the day, tours are given Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday (except December 24-25) starting at 12:30pm running on regular intervals until 3:30pm.
Special Twilight Tours-These popular annual tours will be given Thursday and Friday, December 27 and 28, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This event is a treat for visitors, and the only time of the year the Vanderbilt family’s private living quarters can be seen at night.

North Shore Holiday House is an independent, not-for-profit organization, that has provided free summer experiences to more than 200 Long Island children from low-income communities. Tour beautiful Lloyd Harbor area homes that are professionally decorated for the holiday season. A delicious lunch, compliment of Honu Kitchen & Cocktails in Huntington is included in the $85 ticket price. At lunch you will get to see and the opportunity to purchase tickets for wonderful raffle baskets. A $50 ticket option is also available which is just for the tour not the luncheon.

Each year in December the Huntington Historical Society arranges tours of local residences that date from Colonial times. The owners of these houses, open their homes as a service to the community and the Society, to demonstrate life styles throughout our country’s history. Every year the tour is unique, with a different theme. Also have the opportunity to tour the Society's two decorated house museums. A scrumptious array of refreshments is offered at the Conklin Barn. Tickets and sponsorships go towards the ongoing work of the Huntington Historical Society.

The tour is self-guided and will begin at The Huntting Inn, where participants can check in and receive their maps. Participation in the tour is free as a gift from the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce, and each of the B & B’s will welcome guests with refreshments and conversations.
