Ring In The Season At The Annual North Shore Holiday House Tour

North Shore Holiday House holds a very special place in my heart.  I learned about Holiday House when I first moved to the Five Harbors area 22 years ago. It was a great way to become involved in the local community and meet other women who to this day have continued to be dear friends. After several years of volunteering, I became a board member and continue to serve as one today.

What is truly amazing about this private non-profit overnight camp, which is located right here in Huntington, is that it has been in existence for 100 years and it is the only residential camp of its kind on Long Island!

The purpose of Holiday House is to provide young girls (ages 7 – 11), from families with incomes below poverty level, with an enriching and healthy respite at a critical time in their developing lives.  The camp serves 200 girls from Long Island with groups of 50 campers attending 2 week sessions.

One visit to the camp in the summer and you will quickly realize the impact this place has on these girls.

Fundraising events are the main source of financial support and are instrumental in order to continue to transform the lives of these deserving children and give them hope for the future.

13 years ago in lieu of the annual Holiday luncheon, I presented to the board the idea of having a Holiday House Tour.  The change in venue was well received by all including the public who came out in droves to tour beautiful homes professionally decorated for the holidays. In addition to viewing homes, the event includes a festive luncheon generously donated by and held at Honu Kitchen & Cocktails in Huntington.

I am thrilled to continue to be involved in this event on a personal as well as professional level. Go to their webpage @ www.nshh.org for info on how you or your business can support this local charity.

All are invited on December 6th, but hurry and get your tickets now to this sell out event! There is no better way to get in the holiday spirit, and pick up some design ideas.
